Resubmit Deliverable D4.1 A Survey of Web Scale Reasoning
- Task (VUA): add a new section about query-rewriting techniques in Chapter 2 (Approximate Reasoning)
Zhisheng: this section has been added and committed to the SVN)
- Task (WICI): rewrite Section 2.2 about Approximate Reasoning from the Perspective of Human Intelligence
Yi: Section 2.2 will be removed. and section 2.3 Granular Reasoning and Variable Precision Logics Yi: This section will be rewritten before the deadline, i.e., by the end of this month.
- Task (STI): rewrite Chapter 4 about rule-based reasoning
Barry: STI is working on it. It will be done before the deadline.
- Task (HLRS): update Chapter 6 to mention the work of Calvanese
Zhisheng: Axel will work on it after his back from the holidays, and will be done before the deadline.
Timeline of D4.1
August 25, the new draft due August 26-31: integration Sept 1, report it to the LarKC management board Sept 15, submit to the Commission.
Zhisheng: Zhisheng will go to China on the holidays on August 15. However, he is still reachable by email. He will do the work of the integration during his holidays.

- UIBK: contribute a chapter on evaluation of Rule-based reasoning, latex file: uibk.tex
- HLRS: Evaluation of parellel reasoning, latex file: hlrs.tex
- CEFRIEL: contribute a chapter on the evaluation measures from the perspective of the case study of Urban computing, latex file: cefriel.tex
Ontotext: contribute a chapter on the evaluation measures from the perspective of the case study WP7, latex file:ontotext.tex
Vassil's message: It will be done after he is back from the holidays next week.
- VUA: Contribute chapter on evaluation of approximate reasoning, latex file: vua.tex
?CycEuro: contribute a chapter on the evaluation from the perspective of the platform performance
Luka: Cyceuro is working on it. The work will be done before the deadline, namely, by the end of this month.
- VUA: Contribute chapter on framework of evaluation and benchmarking of reasoners, latex file: framework.tex
- VUA: Contribute chapter on evaluation of approximate reasoning, latex file: vua.tex
- WICI: Evaluation of granular reasoner, latex file: wici.tex
- MPG: contribute some work which is based on the work for WP1 and WP2, latex file: mpg.tex

Some issues/questions on the deliverable
- dataset from the use cases for the evaluation and benchmarking
- how to make the evaluation: manual, semi-automatic,or automatic
- gold standards for the evaluation
- how to compare different reasoners
- check missing part of each chapter
- Chapter to describe the general picture of LarKC reasoners
- integration of chapters
check them with the following initial goals of the evaluation:
- Bug detection
- Robustness
- Performance analysis
- Scalability Potential
- Platform Improvement
Each chapter should discuss how to achieve the initial goal.
Barry: STI will consider the initial goals and discuss them in Chapter about rule-based reasoning. Yi: WICI will discuss the initial goals in Chapter about granular reasoning.
