License Task Force Goal

The goal of the License Task Force is to make a proposal for the licenses to be used for the LarKC platform, the plug-ins and the eventual data used by the use cases for demonstration purposes.

Discussions

• Collect current information and circulate a proposal by email
• Platform License Proposals
  • Apache 2.0
    • There is a proposal made within WP5: Apache 2.0
    • Apache 2.0 may be too open
    • Apache 2.0 permits to make commercial uses of such license
    • It's very compatible with other licenses so that we don't limit the partners to use other libraries
  • LGPL
    • It gives a bit more control to the developers
• Plug-ins Licenses
  • We need to provide some guidelines for plug-in developers
  • The licenses should be compatible with the platform
  • The table from HLRS is nice for this
• Data Licenses
  • If the use case partners can release data, the CC licenses may be the ideal solution
• Application Licenses
  • This is strictly dependent on the use case partners
