Plenary meeting in Sofia, 10-12 May 2010
Contents
1. Travel
Currency. The national currency is Bulgarian Lev (BGN). It has a fixed exchange rate against the EURO; 1 EUR = 1.9558 BGN.
Visa requirements. Bulgaria is a member of the European Union - citizens of all member countries can travel to Sofia without visa. The same holds for citizens of all western European countries, USA, and Canada. More information about the visa requirements can be found at The Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Please contact Silvia Karagova - silvia@ontotext.com - if you need assistance with the visa.
1.1. To Sofia
You can get to Sofia with plane. There is one airport in Sofia (http://www.sofia-airport.bg/default.aspx), with two terminals which are close near each other. Terminal one is used for low-cost companies and terminal two for bigger companies like Lufthansa, ?AirFrance, British and so on.
The best way to get from the airport to the hotel is by taxi. The journey takes between 20 and 40 minutes depending on the traffic. The cost of the journey is in the range of 15-20 BGN (8-10 EURO). We recommend you to use O.K. SUPERTRANS - their enquiries desk is located right in the middle of the arrivals hall. ATTENTION: using other taxi services at the airport is very likely to result in much larger fares (e.g. 40 EURO).
1.2. Within Sofia
The public transportation is mainly buses and subway which you can use to get from the hotel to the city center. Still keep in mind that the public transportation is not regular (strict in their time schedule), so we suggest you to use taxi services. They are rather cheap and for about 6-8 euro you can get from the hotel to the city center.
2. Venue
The LarKC meeting in Sofia will be held in hotel Vitosha - http://www.vitoshaparkhotel.com/en/hotel.html
2.1. Accommodation
The rooms are - http://www.vitoshaparkhotel.com/en/rooms.html - at 89 euro per night. For the LarKC meeting we have special price of 62 euro which only will be available if it is made via Ontotext.
If you want to use the special rate, please contact Silvia Karagova - silvia@ontotext.com - in order to book a room.
