1.1. To Munich

1.2. Within Munich
Public transport site: MVV:
- The same tickets are valid for the S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams and buses.
- There are no barriers, but tickets must be validated by stamping them prior to boarding a train.
- Ticket recommendation for single people:
- If you only visit the meeting and arrive at the airport, get single tickets for the trips airport / Starnberg (9.60 € each) (4 Zones) (need to be stamped before entering the S-Bahn)
- If you only visit the meeting and arrive at the train station get single tickets for the trips Hauptbahnhof / Starnberg (4.80 € each) (2 Zones) (need to be stamped before entering the S-Bahn)

2. Venue
The meeting will take place at the Tagungszentrum Starnberger See http://www.dgb-tagungszentren.de/starnberger-see
From the airport: S-Bahn S1 or S8 to Hauptbahnhof (approx. 45 minutes), then S-Bahn S6 to Starnberg Bahnhof (Seebhf.) (approx. 32 minutes)
The meeting side is outside of Munich on the beautiful Starnberger See in Pöcking (Ferdinand-von-Miller-Str. 7, Niederpöcking) , along the S6 line near the S-Bahn station Starnberg Bahnhof (Seebhf.). From there you have three options. 1: Take a taxi (recommended). 2: Take Regionalbus 964 to Niederpöcking (runs infrequently bus 964). 3: Take a 28 minute walk.

Pöcking is a small village on Lake Starnberg (Starnberger See) outside of Munich. Accommodation is available at the center. We were able to make reservations for 35 single rooms (96 euros/night). However, these reservations are only guaranteed until >>>>> Monday, December 07 2009. <<<<< Unfortunately, there seem to be no rooms available for the night before.
- Double rooms are also available at 120 euros/night (+12 euros/person for breakfast) but double rooms are not reserved.

We organize a trip to Munich for Wednesday, Jan 20.
It is important to catch the S-Bahn to Munich at 18:54 (NEW). A group will walk from the conference center to the S-Bahnstation at 18:15 (NEW). Best deal: Partner Day Ticket XXL: 12.30 € for up to 5 people.
