1st Early Adopters Workshop - Teleconference

2.1. Workshop content

• Introduction (30 mins), Frank
• Pipeline and plugin types (45 mins), Barry or Mick
• Data model (45 mins), Vassil (or A.N.Other from Ontotext)
• Hands on (all of remaining time), everyone

2.2. Attendees

• Personal invitations to: Heiner Stuckenschmidt, Matthias Klusch, Simon Price, Pascal Hitzler
• Projects: OKKAM, SOA4All, ALERT, ACTIVE, SEALS
• Also attendees to Cyc workshop at ISWC

• ACTION: Mick prepare invitation text and email to Luka

• ACTION: Everyone to send email addresses (projects and people) to Luka

• ACTION: Eyal to send email to larkc-all asking for more suggestions for people or projects to invite

• ACTION: Luka to coordinate the sending of the invitation emails

• ACTION: Barry to check if we have any flyers/leaflets that could be included

• ACTION: Barry to update/synchronise earlyadopters.larkc.eu and wiki.larkc.eu

• ACTION: Barry to report on how many already registered via the website

2.3. Hands-on session

• Much discussion on striking a balance between presentations and hands-on time, will proceed as per the workshop agenda above.
• Luka, Blaz, Eyal, Frank, Mick, Barry, Axel, Alex will all be present for most if not all of the workshop.
  • Vassil will try to be present, but will find substitute if necessary
• Assume no internet connection, or a connection so unreliable that it is unusable, hence no 'SPARQL endpoint for the Web scenarios'
• The following scenarios are feasible:
  • Urban Baby Larkc and experimenting with a selector
    • Change the selector (that wraps a SPARQL query) to change:
      • Type of roads
      • District
      • Radius

    • RISK Requires a fully functioning and stable Urban Baby Larkc

    • ACTION: Georgina to develop this scenario

  • Medical data set + GATE text-to-RDF transformer
    • Can modify selector to see effect on query results
    • Can extend to experiment with CyC reasoner

    • ACTION: Blaz to develop this scenario (will ask Angus for input)

  • PION reasoner to demonstrate use of 'semantic distances'

    • ACTION: Barry to ask Zhisheng for input/suggestions

• ACTION: Barry to email all LarKC plug-in developers to see if they have ideas for scenarios using their plug-ins

2.4. Infrastructure

• ACTION: Barry to organise equipment for a ~25 node standalone wifi network

• ACTION: Blaz to organise the same as backup

• ACTION: Mick to check out the room on his pre-conference visit (power supplies, etc)

2.5. Required Software

• Attendees will be asked to bring their own laptops with certain software pre-installed for a quick start
• All required software will be made available on CD, USB stick or downloadable from a laptop

• ACTION: Barry to create a page on the wiki where a list of required software can be agreed

• Next meeting: Teleconference Monday, 20th April, 10:00AM CET

• ACTION: Developers of scenarios to create an overview of their scenarios for 20.04.09

• Follow on meeting ~27th April

• ACTION: Developers of scenarios to have working scenarios for 27.04.09

• Eyal volunteers as scenario alpha tester - he will report on missing software, missing documentation, etc
